What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are a great way to enter the workforce.

An apprenticeship is a training contract between an employer and an employee in which the apprentice learns the skills needed for a particular occupation or trade.

An apprenticeship can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis and can be used as a valuable stepping stone to start a career in an industry you want to work in.

As an apprentice you can

  • Learn valuable, nationally recognised job skills

  • Get paid while learning

  • Combine training from a TAFE or training provider with workplace-based training

Who can do an apprenticeship?

School-based:

Are you particularly interested in a career in hospitality, but would like to finish your schooling? You can talk to your Careers Advisor about a school-based apprenticeship or feel free to contact ALH Hotels to discuss this further. Under a school-based apprenticeship, you will spend time at school, time with your employer, and some time doing training with a TAFE or training provider.

Want to move into a new industry?

They say change is as good as a holiday! Are you already employed but wanting to enter a new field of employment? Apprenticeships can offer you an easy way to move into a new industry while at the same time ensuring you have all of the skills, knowledge and training to make your change in career successful.

A mature worker?

At ALH, we value employees of all ages. Apprenticeships are not only for the young. Mature workers have many skills, life experiences and abilities that they can bring to the workplace. If you are wanting to return to work or change industries, an apprenticeship with ALH Hotels is the way to go!
